Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about art experiences for senior living, memory care, and community groups in Middle Tennessee

How long is a DOCENT experience?

Our standard senior living art experience is 45–60 minutes—a length we’ve found ideal for keeping residents engaged and comfortable from beginning to end. Every DOCENT experience is paced around the audience. For memory care communities or groups who benefit from a shorter program, we can offer a focused 30-minute experience while still leaving room for conversation, questions, and meaningful interaction. Because no two groups are alike, we adapt our pace and presentation style to the residents in the room. Whether it’s a lively discussion, a shared memory sparked by a familiar artwork, or an opportunity to explore a painting up close, our goal is to make every minute engaging, accessible, and enjoyable.

Groups of Any Size, Experiences That Feel Personal

We’re delighted to accommodate groups of any size, with flexible packages designed to fit your community’s unique needs. While we can comfortably serve larger audiences, we’ve found that groups of 15–25 residents often create the ideal setting for a truly engaging experience. Smaller groups allow residents to interact more personally with our docent, share their thoughts and memories, and become part of the conversation—making each presentation especially meaningful for assisted living and memory care communities. Our goal is more than simply presenting art—it’s creating moments of connection, discovery, and joy that residents remember long after the experience ends.

We Bring the Experience—You Provide the Space

Hosting a DOCENT experience is simple. We bring everything needed to create a memorable, immersive art experience, including life-size artwork replicas, sensory materials, and all presentation supplies. If your community has its own screen and sound system, we’re happy to connect to them—or we can bring our own equipment when needed. Your team simply provides a comfortable space with seating for residents and access to electrical outlets. From setup to cleanup, we take care of everything. We typically arrive 30 minutes before the experience to prepare the space and make sure everything is ready to go. After the program, we handle the complete breakdown and cleanup, leaving your team free to focus on what matters most: your residents.
No complicated preparation. No extra work for your staff. Just an engaging, beautifully presented cultural experience your residents can look forward to.

What is the format of a DOCENT art experience?

DOCENT sessions are highly interactive, not lectures. We encourage questions, personal stories, and conversation. Residents can handle replicas, smell scented materials related to the artwork, and participate at their comfort level. No prior art knowledge is required, making the program accessible and engaging for senior living, memory care, church, school, and community groups across Middle Tennessee.

Do you offer programs for memory care residents?

Yes. Memory care programming is one of our specialties. We use multi-sensory elements, familiar imagery, and a flexible, conversation-based format designed to spark recognition and engagement. Our DOCENT has experience working with residents at various cognitive levels and adapts pacing and content to support a positive, dignified experience.

What areas in Middle Tennessee do you serve?

DOCENT serves senior living facilities, memory care centers, churches, schools, and community groups throughout Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Nashville, Brentwood, Cool Springs, Spring Hill, Nolensville, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, and Gallatin. Contact us to confirm availability in your community.

Can you customize a presentation for our facility?

Absolutely. We tailor themes, pacing, and sensory elements to the interests and needs of your residents or group. Whether you prefer Impressionist masterpieces, American history, classical music, or seasonal topics, we can design a program that fits your calendar and audience.

How much does a DOCENT program cost?

Our single session pricing starts at $599 for a 45-60 minute interactive art experience. We also offer a monthly series of three themed experiences for $1,600, which saves $200 compared to booking individual sessions. Custom packages are available for recurring partnerships.
